BO KAAP HOUSE

This project involved the renovation of an original 19th century house in the historical Bo Kaap. The existing house had a strong symmetry which was retained in the central living area running from the street through to the stone courtyard at the rear of the property. On either side of the central space are bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, with the kitchen and study opening onto the internal courtyard at the end. Existing features such as original stone work and timber beams were uncovered and celebrated. The neutral palette forms the perfect backdrop for the owner’s collection of modern, old and eclectic artwork and furnishings.
