The design challenge lay in accommodating an extensive brief on a compact, steep sloping site. The heavy plinth breaks the scale of the three storey facades and raises the open plan living areas up to the middle floor to maximise views of the city and harbour beyond. We introduced sliding slatted hardwood screens for privacy and shading, which added interest to the glazed facades. The natural, neutral materials created the perfect backdrop for the client's extensive art collection.
